Most embarrassing professional moment
In my second week at a previous Job I was sent an invitation to the monthly dress up party. I turned up dressed as Peter Pan. When I arrived, it was explained to me the invitation was in fact a joke.
Best advice for an investor
Before you invest go to an advisor and create a plan that is specific to you, and only you.
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
– Michael Jordan
In my first big presentation to a major national client with my 3 male colleagues, we didn’t coordinate outfits and ironically everyone turned up in pink business shirts! I guess real men really do wear pink.
“Only invest in what you understand”. Ask lots of questions – when considering an opportunity there is never a dumb question when talking about your money and your future investments!
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
Realising my son had put a Paw Patrol stamp on my forehead after one-and-a-half-hour meeting with a client.
As an investor, you need to minimise risk. Your chances of success will be higher if you seek professional guidance.
“Don’t wait to buy property. Buy property and wait.”
Working with a Melbourne radio station, when we were frantically preparing for a VIP guest. As I arrived at the station and there was a man waiting for the lift. We got into the lift and we made some polite small talk. I excused myself to exit the lift and let him know I had to get to my important meeting with our VIP guest.
I noticed when I turned around that most of the station were lining up for his autograph. It didn’t take long to work out that he was in fact our VIP guest… Richard Branson.
What are you waiting for? A long-term investment is not about the right time to get in, it’s about buying the right thing and the time you spend in it.
“Rule No. 1: Never lose money.
“Rule No. 2: Never forget rule number 1.”
– Warren Buffet
A couple of years back I was conducting a market appraisal when I slipped in the rain and fell flat on my face. After I recovered from the embarrassment and the wounds stop the bleeding, I still managed to secure the listing.
That research is the most pivotal factor. Knowing the data to look for, what it means and how to use it to make an informed decision is crucial to choosing the right investment property for you.
“My Favourite things in life don’t cost any money, it’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.”
– Steve Jobs
Definitely when I had toilet paper and my skirt stuck in my pantyhose as I traipsed through an industry conference, confidently and somewhat arrogantly greeting prospects and business associates. It may have been 20 minutes before someone told me.
Do something. I can’t guarantee your returns BUT I can guarantee you will not have that dream car, home or whatever it is you’ve always wanted but can’t afford, if you do nothing.
Marlin: “I promised I’d never let anything happen to him.”
Dory: “Hmm. That’s a funny thing to promise.”
Dory: “Well you can’t never let anything happen to him. Then nothing would ever happen to him. Not much fun for little Harpo.”
– Finding Nemo
